Newmark’s Christine Espenshade and Robert Garrish have been working together since 2012 and have orchestrated the sale of more than $6 billion of assets in the Mid-Atlantic. With approximately $1 billion of transactions completed in 2020 alone, Christine and Robert were successful in advising clients with tailored marketing strategies to fit their investment goals.

While some transactions were broadly marketed to thousands of investors, some transactions were marketed on a selective basis to qualified groups who could meet a seller's timing and pricing expectations. Working with their partner, Shawn McDonald, who leads the team's debt practice, Espenshade and Garrish also recommended effective financing options for owners to implement various operational strategies for asset repositioning or partner recapitalization.

One of the team’s most notable transactions in 2020 included a more than $100 million Class A community in suburban Maryland, completing its lease-up. During the marketing process, operations shifted due to a change with a local university's operations due to the pandemic. Christine and Robert were able to find a qualified buyer and structure pricing to benefit ownership during an uncertain time in a market with rapid change. Their innovative marketing strategies through 2020 have created a robust pipeline of business with some of the top owners in the country.
